Following a damning Department of Veterans Affairs report documenting animal welfare violations and oversight failures in dog experimentation laboratories at the Richmond VA Medical Center, U.S. Senators from Virginia Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Mark Warner (D-VA) have joined other Congress members calling for reforms.

In a letter to Secretary of Veterans Affairs David Shulkin, the Senators express concerns about Richmond VAMC’s dog abuses first exposed by White Coat Waste Project, and the recent VA report’s findings of misreported dog use data, unapproved procedures, and an inadequate whistleblower policy. The wrote, in part:

we would like to see more done to improve transparency and accuracy of reporting about the research conducted on canines

Richmond’s ABC affiliate WRIC first reported on the letter.

Email your congress members now and urge them to end all dog experiments at the V.A.
