Virginia Lawmakers Introduce Bill to Cut State Funding for Painful Tests on Dogs and Cats

Virginia state Senators Bill Stanley (R-VA) and Glen Sturtevant (R-VA) are ramping up their fight against wasteful taxpayer-funded “maximum pain” dog experiments at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond that White Coat Waste Project and a VA whistleblower exposed.

As reported by the Richmond Times-Dispatch and WRIC , the Republicans just introduced a bill for the 2018 legislative session that bans state funding for the most painful category of experiments on dogs and cats, those in which significant pain is inflicted and intentionally left unrelieved. This includes deadly heart attack experiments on puppies at the Richmond VAMC that are currently receiving state and federal tax dollars.

The Richmond VAMC is the only federal laboratory conducting “maximum pain” experiments on dogs, and apparently the only facility in Virginia still doing so.

This summer, Richmond-area Congressman Dave Brat (R-VA) led a successful effort to pass legislation in the U.S. House to defund the VA’s dog experiments.  The campaign is supported by a majority of veterans, many veterans organizations, most taxpayers, and the top newspaper in Richmond.

Help stop the VA from using your money to abuse and kill dogs for “maximum pain” experiments. Urge your Congress members to support the bipartisan PUPPERS Act.

i don’t know what “maximum pain experiments” are, why they are needed, why we don’t enforce cruelty to animals laws & why, if they are in such need for data, they don’t just go to China & see what happens when sentient creatures are stripped of their skins while alive. So called “doctors” are supposed to be alleviating pain, not causing it. Evidently, barbarism is alive & well in Virginia.

Stop the testing to animals. It is cruel and inhumane.

You people are a bunch of delirious Murderers who enjoy inflicting pain on innocent animals. What you are doing does not benefit anyone on ANY level. What you are doing is just plain evil and one has to wonder how you lay your head on your pillows and sleep peacefully. If you do manage to sleep it is only because you are ruled by the evil that you are doing. Let those animals live a peaceful life and stop torturing them. The money that you spend and use on murdering, maiming, and torturing innocent animals can be used for something good.
