WCW ANNOUNCES 7TH ANNUAL CONGRESSIONAL WASTE WARRIOR AWARDS!

For the 7th year in a row, White Coat Waste Project (WCW) is proud to announce its Waste Warrior Award recipients! 
 
Waste Warriors are the soldiers on the frontlines of the War on Waste–a bipartisan league of lawmakers hellbent on working with WCW to find, expose, and defund villainous white coat’s most atrocious experiments on animals.  

Our awardees have demonstrated exceptional leadership and determination to hold accountable the white coats who abuse their authority, our tax dollars, and countless animals to conduct painful and wasteful lab experiments. 
 
And with that, please meet WCW’s 2023 Congressional Waste Warriors!

  • Helped introduce and enact successful WCW-backed legislation that cut Food and Drug Administration (FDA) red tape, forcing industry and federal agencies to conduct wasteful drug tests on puppies and other animals 
  • Introduced legislation to cut FDA red tape and eliminate duplicative animal testing requirements specifically for generic drugs.

  • Citing WCW’s Coke Hounds investigation, sent a letter to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) demanding details about the agency’s “cruel, costly, outdated…unnecessary” $2 million drug tests in which puppies were injected with cocaine  

Rep. Sanford Bishop (D-GA) 

  • As Chairman of the USDA’s funding panel, enacted legislation directing the agency to enact a policy allowing taxpayers to adopt animals from its labs.  
  • As Chairman of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s funding panel, continued leadership to pass legislation urging the FDA to reduce primate tests and retire survivors to sanctuaries, which has led to a 44% cut in the FDA’s abuse of monkeys in recent years.
  • Cosponsored the WCW-backed Violet’s Law to make adoption an option for dogs, cats, and other animals in all federal labs when testing ends

  • Helped lead a successful effort to enact legislation defunding the Department of Justice’s wasteful “live tissue training” exposed by WCW that involved stabbing, shooting, and blowing up live animals in outdated  drills
  • Citing WCW’s Coke Hounds investigation, led a bipartisan letter to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) demanding details about the agency’s “cruel, costly, outdated…unnecessary” $2 million drug tests in which puppies were injected with cocaine
