EcoHealth Just Raked in Another $4M in Tax Money Days Before Congressional Hearing

  • A WCW investigation has uncovered that USAID shipped $4.1 million to the disgraced EcoHealth Alliance just days before its president is hauled in front of Congress this week
  • Our updated analysis shows that Wuhan lab funder EHA has raked in nearly $60 million in new taxpayer funding since the pandemic—that it probably started—began for virus-hunting and animal tests around the world
  • WCW was the first group to expose how EHA shipped taxpayer dollars from USAID and the NIH to the Wuhan animal lab for gain-of-function experiments that likely infected Patient Zero and caused COVID.

In early 2020, the White Coat Waste Project (WCW) was the very first group to expose how EcoHealth Alliance (EHA) recklessly shipped taxpayer dollars to the Wuhan animal lab for gain-of-function experiments. Experts—including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Energy Department, and former director of the Centers for Disease Control—and 7 in 10 Americans now believe EHA’s animal experiments in Wuhan caused COVID.

We’ve documented how EHA has repeatedly violated federal spending transparency law, and it’s been busted for breaking NIH grant rules in Wuhan and misusing taxpayer dollars.

Yet, just days before EHA president Peter Daszak is finally scheduled to testify in front of Congress (as WCW and 75% of taxpayers have wanted for years!) about what happened in Wuhan, WCW has discovered that one of the agencies that funded EHA’s reckless animal tests in Wuhan is raining millions on Daszak once again.

WCW has been following the money and just uncovered that on April 8, 2024, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)—who WCW exposed for funding EHA and the Wuhan white coat believed to be COVID Patient Zero—sent another $4.1 million of taxpayers’ money to EHA.

Just from this one USAID grant, EHA has received $6.3 million to date and is projected to receive $15.3 million in total by 2026.

From March 2020 until today, USAID handed over $18 million of your cash to EHA.

Is this how you want your money spent?

WCW’s new analysis of government spending data found that—just since the pandemic began in March 2020—EHA has raked in nearly $60 million in new taxpayer funds for more dangerous and unnecessary virus-hunting around the world and risky and cruel animal experiments in foreign labs.

Since March 2020, the Department of Defense forked over $28 million to EHA, primarily funds from the Pentagon’s “Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction” account. The National Science Foundation threw $263,801 at EHA.

The NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which recklessly funded EHA’s gain-of-function experiments in Wuhan under Dr. Fauci, also gave the rogue group another $11.7 million, including for highly-dangerous virus experiments on hamsters and humanized mice in foreign labs.

WCW has uncovered how NIAID is paying EHA to import hundreds of bats from Asia to the U.S. to establish Wuhan West, a new bat breeding colony and experimentation lab at Colorado State University to infect bats with COVID, Ebola, and other deadly viruses.

As we previously exposed, EHA also inexplicably managed to squeeze $1.5 million in pandemic bailout funds out of taxpayers’ pockets, even though they may have actually sparked the pandemic and were raking in millions of tax dollars!

All in all, EHA is doing its dirty work in at least 20 countries around the world, playing around with deadly pathogens like Nipah, coronaviruses, and Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever.

Defund EcoHealth Alliance

EHA’s waste and abuse is so egregious that Congress has introduced legislation to completely defund the shady organization and passed (but not yet enacted) spending bills cutting EHA’s taxpayer funding.

As the group that first exposed and ended EHA’s calamitous collaboration with the Wuhan animal lab, we’re working with Congress to defund this rogue organization once and for all. Taxpayers should not be forced to bankroll reckless white coats who waste money, break the law, and place public health in peril.
