  • White Coat Waste’s ongoing investigation has uncovered a quarter-billion dollars wasted on cruel and bizarre transgender animal experiments by agencies including the NIH, NSF, and even the USDA.
  • At a House Oversight Committee hearing earlier this month, WCW testified about its findings in stunning remarks that went viral.
  • In dozens of active tax-funded projects, experimenters are subjecting lab animals to gender-affirming hormone therapies and gender transition surgeries, injecting them with vaccines, overdosing them on sex party drugs, giving them cancer, and other abuses.
  • DEI grants and other tax funding is paying for these animal experiments at universities and private labs nationwide.
  • WCW is working with Congress and the Trump Administration’s DOGE to cut funding for transgender and other animal experiments.

UPDATE: March 18, 2025
President Trump and DOGE canceled more NIH grants funding cruel transgender animal experiments that were exposed by WCW.

UPDATE: March 5, 2025
Citing White Coat Waste Project’s investigation, President Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) canceled seven of the NIH grants we exposed that funded cruel transgender animal experiments.

In early February, White Coat Waste Project (WCW) testified at a House Oversight Committee hearing chaired by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) about how the U.S. government wastes $20 billion a year on cruel and useless animal tests.  Our remarks attracted immediate attention from lawmakers, Elon Musk, taxpayers across the country, and the press.

In particular, our ongoing investigation exposing over a quarter-billion dollars in taxpayer funding for wasteful and inhumane transgender animal experiments raised eyebrows and concerns from members of the Oversight Committee on both sides of the aisle.

As reported by the Washington Examiner, Gateway Pundit, and others, we’ve uncovered how dozens of taxpayer-funded grants from agencies including the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the National Science Foundation are actively funding these disturbing and cruel transgender animal experiments at universities and other laboratories across the country.

One NIH-funded grant to the University of the Pacific has raked in over $1.1 million to study overdoses of a party drug abused at raves in female rats being given testosterone to mimic gender transitioning.

In a project funded with NIH grants worth over $10 million, University of Michigan experimenters implanted female mice with testosterone pellets to crudely recreate “transgender men” and study their ability to become pregnant after transitioning. The animals were then “sacrificed” and their genitals were photographed.

In another disturbing University of Michigan experiment paid for by the same NIH grants, male mice were implanted with capsules containing estrogen to mimic “gender-affirming hormone therapy” in transgender men transitioning to women.  They were then killed and their genitals were photographed and dissected.

Transgender Animal Experiments

One of the experiments highlighted at the hearing included an NIH-funded project at Duke University that has received nearly half-a-million taxpayer dollars to study how HIV vaccines work in male mice subjected to female hormones to recreate male-to-female gender transitions.

A new $442,444 NIH grant to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a Harvard teaching hospital, is subjecting lab animals to hormone therapies and gender reassignment surgeries to study how their wounds heal.  Johns Hopkins University is receiving NIH funding for similar experiments.

We also uncovered how the NIH and USDA paid Rutgers University, Boston University and the University of Iowa millions of taxpayers’ money—including funding from Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) grants—to promote the expansion of transgender animal testing.

WCW’s investigation has identified other institutions currently wasting taxpayers’ money on transgender animal experiments including the University of Alabama-Birmingham, University of Mississippi, Emory University, University of California-San Diego, and Indiana University.

Our exposé went VIRAL.

Many people are in disbelief about this reckless spending. Forbes even tried to dismiss our investigation as a “DOGE Hoax” but had to quickly retract and correct their claims because we provided receipts.

These projects are just the tip of the iceberg. Millions more from taxpayer-funded grants are being funneled to transgender animal experiments and we’ll continue to uncover, expose, and stop this waste and abuse.

Cutting funding for cruel and wasteful animal experiments is our top priority for the Trump Administration and DOGE.
