In a major win for taxpayers and animals, the Virginia State Senate has overwhelmingly passed a bill to prevent state tax dollars from being spent on “maximum pain” experiments on dogs and cats at the Richmond VA Medical Center and all other facilities in the state.

The bill was introduced by Republican Senators Bill Stanley and Glen Sturtevant following White Coat Waste Project exposés of how painful dog experiments at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond were receiving state and federal tax dollars. The bipartisan legislation, which now moves to the House, prohibits state funds from paying for experiments on dogs and cats that involve causing unrelieved pain.
During debate, Senator Stanley told his colleagues:
“This is just throwing down a marker, basically, that says we aren’t going to use taxpayer money for what I would consider a deeply unethical and immoral practice.”
U.S. Representative Dina Titus (D-NV) urged her colleagues in Congress to follow Virginia’s lead and pass her bipartisan PUPPERS Act:
It is time Congress follows the Virginia Senate’s lead and passes my bill to stop these cruel experiments on dogs. Great work by @WhiteCoatWaste to help advance this effort across the nation. https://t.co/rEKQr9Toek

Last summer, the U.S. House unanimously passed a bill introduced by Rep. Titus and Richmond-area Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA) to cut federal funding for the VA’s most painful dog experiments. The Senate is considering the measure now.
You can help no matter where you live! Urge Congress to support the bipartisan PUPPERS Act to stop the VA from using your tax dollars to fund “maximum pain” dog experiments.
I do not want these experiments to continue. They are unnecessary and cruel.
I do not want these experiments to continue. They are NOT needed and CRUEL.
Sickening
Please stop
This is an outrage an an unacceptable violation of sentient rights. It must end now.
I WANT ALL DOG LABS PERMANENTLY DEFUNDED!!!!
Horrifying
Expel them all. And right-leaning states should defund universities that are scared to do so. I would propose the following to leftists: for every right they infringe upon (be it 1st amendment, 2nd amendment, etc.), the right should infringe upon 3 of their more precious rights. You cannot reason with that which is incapable of reason. Force is the only thing they respond to. There are reasons they don”t sue Muslim bakers. They fear them. Instilling this fear might take a few years. It certainly won”t be overnight. But the ground needs to start being tilled for this. “Oh, you wish to infringe upon the 2nd amendment? Fantastic, we just bought 2 more AR-15″s, and we”re going to start undermining the 8th, 19th, 23rd, and 26th amendments. You really don”t all need to be voting after all, do you? If a propaganda machine can overturn centuries of marriage tradition in about 30-50 years, it can do anything. Make them reap what they sow. As the great statesman Brack Obama said, ““If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.” The right needs to start taking his very sound advice.
