Prompted by WCW Investigation, TRANS MICE Act Introduced to Defund Disturbing Animal Experiments
- Prompted by White Coat Waste’s (WCW) investigations, grassroots pressure, Congressional testimony, and lobbying, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) has introduced a bill, the TRANS MICE Act, to prohibit all taxpayer funding for cruel transgender animal experiments.
- WCW’s ongoing blockbuster investigation exposed how agencies including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation, and others wasted millions of tax dollars to subject lab animals to hormone therapies and invasive surgeries to crudely mimic gender transitions in adults and children and then inject them with vaccines, overdose them on sex party drugs, wound them, electroshock them, give them cancer, and other abuses.
- President Trump has personally criticized these transgender animal tests exposed by WCW during a State of the Union address and a recent Oval Office meeting.
- The Trump Administration has canceled at least ten grants funding transgender animal tests exposed by WCW, saving thousands of animals and millions of tax dollars.
- Despite action by the Trump Administration, WCW has exposed how dozens of taxpayer-funded grants that have bankrolled transgender animal experiments are still active, and nothing is stopping agencies from funding more.
Following White Coat Waste’s investigations, grassroots pressure, Congressional testimony, and lobbying, Rep. Nancy Mace has just introduced new legislation, the TRANS MICE Act (HR 4512), to prohibit all current and future taxpayer funding for wasteful and cruel transgender animal experiments.
Joining Rep. Mace in introducing the Transgender Research on Animals Now Stops and Money for Ideological Cruelty Eliminated Act are Reps. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Brandon Gill (R-TX), and Lauren Boebert (R-CO).
These experiments are real, and really wasteful, despite misinformation being intentionally spread by Congress, former NIH officials, and the press.
In December 2024, a White Coat Waste investigation first exposed how the NIH and other federal agencies are wasting tens of millions of tax dollars to subject lab animals to hormone therapies and invasive surgeries to crudely mimic gender transitions in adults and children. The labs then inject the animals with vaccines, overdose them on sex party drugs, wound them, electroshock them, give them cancer, and commit other abuses.

In February 2025, WCW testified to Congress about our investigation into these wasteful and cruel animal experiments during a House Oversight Committee hearing chaired by Rep. Mace and the story went viral, prompting outrage from the public and figures like Joe Rogan and Elon Musk and swift action from the Trump White House and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Referencing our investigation, in his March 4 State of the Union address, President Donald Trump remarked, “Listen to the appalling waste we have already identified—$8 million for making mice transgender. This is real.”

In the following weeks, the Trump Administration canceled at least ten NIH grants funding transgender animal tests that WCW investigators uncovered and flagged for the DOGE chopping block, saving thousands of animals and millions of tax dollars. The White House even referenced and linked to WCW’s investigation of transgender animal testing spending.

Despite action by the Trump Administration, WCW has exposed how dozens of taxpayer-funded grants that have bankrolled transgender animal experiments are still active, and nothing is stopping Uncle Sam from funding more. We estimate that the NIH, National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and other federal agencies have wasted at least a quarter-billion tax dollars on transgender animal labs.
Rep. Mace’s TRANS MICE Act will ensure not a single penny of taxpayers’ money is wasted on these cruel experiments again.
